ABSTRACT
This article provides information of the Skills Pool project of the Institute of Logistics and Transport. This is a new way in which all members can potentially get involved, wherever they are in Great Britain, on a time basis that suits them. The skills pool database is being set up so that the institute can find the right people at the right time to consult, seek advice, share best practice and take new opportunities. The institute needs this kind of information so that it can present a balanced and professional view on behalf of their members. The questionnaire developed for this purpose has been launched in three phases, starting in February 2001. This is to allow monitoring checks to be carried out, and also constant improvement of the form and database. During the first stage, all existing policies committee, working party, special interest groups' (SIG) steering group and forum members will receive the questionnaires. The members of the SIG will receive the questionnaire with their regular newsletter, or by direct mailing. All remaining members will receive the questionnaires during the third stage.
