ABSTRACT
This article presents the main findings from the bus passenger satisfaction survey, which was originally published in the Bus Quality Indicators bulletin in 2001. The average satisfaction rating for the bus journey just completed was 80 percent in England, 83 percent in England outside London and 75 percent in London. The highest satisfaction rating in both London and outside London was for on-bus safety and security and behavior of the bus crew. For England as a whole these two aspects of the bus journey had an average satisfaction rating of 87 percent. Outside London, journey time and level of crowding on the bus had an average satisfaction rating of 89 percent. Satisfaction with bus stop information averaged 73 percent in London, with an average of 61 percent for England as a whole. Satisfaction with bus service reliability averaged 67 percent in London and 65 percent outside London and 65 percent for England as a whole.
