ABSTRACT
The article discusses how incorporation of more psychological assessment and positive approaches into nutrition courses may significantly improve a person's quality of life. It notes a presumed association between depression and obesity where depression can lead to overeating that leads to weight gain and more depression. It cites findings of a study that behavioral motivational nutrition education was successful in alleviating depressive symptoms in 144 obese Hispanic Americans.
