ABSTRACT
A pumpkin weighing in at 408 pounds in Kelowna, British Columbia has won the Composting Council of Canada's second annual great pumpkin growing contest. An Ogogrow, Kelowna's premium-cured compost product, was used to grow the pumpkin. Ogogrow is a biosolids compost produced in aerated static piles, using wood chips as the bulking agent. The plant was also watered with soaker hoses coiled outwards from the planting hole. The $500 prize money will be donated to a community garden.
