ABSTRACT
The British-based Institute of Logistics and Transport's Transport and Logistic Policy Committee has drawn up a statement regarding the actions the British government must take to implement integrated transport. According to the statement, the government must set targets in all the main areas associated with road congestion. High priority must be accorded in the legislative program to powers for imposing road charges, and revenues must be used for improving the highway network and achieving excellence in public transport. The statement emphasizes the essential role played by transport in the British economy.
