ABSTRACT
The British Freight Transport Association's Quarterly Transport Activity Survey has found that transport users increasingly look to third-party transport service providers to take on more work as their demand for freight transport continues to increase. Both domestic road freight and international road freight activity were expected to increase in the fourth quarter of 1999. Much of the increase in activity growth reflects strengthening demand for transport in northern and western areas of Great Britain. Together with the midlands, these regions were expected to be the strongest performing in the fourth quarter of 1999.
