ABSTRACT
Three British airlines have forged links with other international carriers, thereby accelerating the pace of restructuring in the aviation market. British Airways has reached an agreement to take a stake in Spanish airline Iberia as part of Iberia's privatization program. Lufthansa of Germany is taking a 20% stake in British Midland for 9.14 million pounds. The shares are being acquired from Scandinavian Airlines System whose stake in British Midland will be reduced to 20%. Singapore Airlines will acquire 49% of Virgin Atlantic, the holding company for Virgin Atlantic Airways, Virgin Holidays, Virgin Sun and Virgin's cargo operation Virgin Aviation Services.
