From an owner perspective, three things are essential for truly dynamic Web sites: the ability to update content independently (Content Management System, or CMS), the ability to change the look of the whole site simply (Skin structure), and the ability to add new sections and components easily (Scalability). When commissioning an agency to build a CMS, they should be able to show examples of their work. Even if owners do not opt for a CMS, a Skin-able structure should be requested. Web site folder structure must be built so that all scripts, style sheets and images sit in their single respective folders. From a scalability perspective, site navigation and infrastructure must be designed in a way that allows for new sections to be added at a later date.
