Floods put IT systems at risk from water ingress

The paper "Water ingress in structured cabling systems" is to be presented by British-based structured cabling manufacturer Molex Premise Networks at the Building Industry Consulting Service International spring conference in 2003. It is estimated that in Great Britain as a whole, 222 billion pounds worth of assets are at risk of flooding. It is also suggested that the future of London, England as an international center for trade and commerce is under threat from the risk of major storm surge in the capital. Water ingress to the structured cabling infrastructure has a negative impact on cabling performance especially when running high bit rate data applications.
