Sending small gifts for Christmas by courier and buying through electronic business, electronic trading and Internet auctions can all lead to unexpected and unwelcome surprises when the movement of goods across borders is concerned. Only gifts valued at less than 36 pounds move into Great Britain will be assessed for import duty and value added tax. The supplier dispatches the goods through a courier company or by international postal services.
