ABSTRACT
In December 2001, the Institute of Logistics and Transport and the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply submitted a joint response to the Department of Trade and Industry proposals to amend the Transfer of Undertakings or the Protection of Employment Regulations 1981, which is commonly known as the TUPE Regulations. Both Institutes support the Government's objective to achieve the right balance between enabling business to adapt changing circumstances. However, the members consulted by both Institutes highlighted a number of issues which they felt would hamper the achievements of their objective.
