ABSTRACT
Supply-chain event management (SCEM) was predicted by most analysts to be one of the fastest growing areas of electronic business for 2001. Indeed, research firm AMR suggested that SCEM would be the catalysis for software vendor obsolescence or consolidation in the market for electronic business solutions. Companies seeking to optimize their international or global supply-chains can no longer ignore the need to put in place an SCEM strategy throughout their extended business partner community. SCEM software allows a company to receive and respond to unplanned events on an exception basis.
