ABSTRACT
The author argues the need to introduce the discipline of people logistics and how integrated approaches in logistics and supply-chain management can be applied to this discipline. Problems concerning unnecessary journey, increase in unproductive time, and environmental pollution are cited as factors that make the case for people logistics. The author presents issues that need to be addressed in the area of people logistics. Using the operational analysis approach, solutions are possible by looking at causes of public transport delays and patterns of use, and applying the systems concept to transport. In conclusion, there is a need to apply new approaches in the management of transport and logistics.
