ABSTRACT
A project funded by the European Commission and launched in Bristol, England involves eight cities across Europe that have accepted the challenge of developing and implementing road pricing and related technologies. The cities involved in the project include Rome and Genoa in Italy, Edinburgh in Scotland, Copenhagen in Denmark, Gothenburg in Sweden, Helsinki in Finland and Bristol in England. The project aims to align road pricing tariff structures and payment methods with those of public transport and parking, and will consider factors that have been neglected in the past. A team of European experts will monitor and evaluate developments within each of the cities as part of their role in the European Transport Pricing Initiative.
