ABSTRACT
The real business objectives in the pharmaceutical sector has been outlined to differentiate the pharmaceutical wholesaler from any typical wholesaler. In the pharmaceutical environment, most of the products have long and complicated Latin or medical names of which the average user does not always know the correct spelling. This introduces the need for search fields that are supported by a phonetic correction function, often referred to as a 'fuzzy match dictionary.' Due to legal requirements, pharmaceutical distributors are not allowed to sell all items to all customers. Most countries have legal restrictions on narcotics handling. Storage, stocks movements and transportation have to be reported completely to the appropriate legal authority. The pre-wholesaling is a third-party logistics operation with the pre-wholesaler not only providing the warehouse management but also providing many value-added services such as sales order handling, invoicing, debt collection and advice on replenishment based on true historic demand, seasonally profiles and acknowledge product promotions.
