ABSTRACT
A new paper by the Cranfield School of Management in Great Britain and Stanford University in the United States, explores the impact that confidence has on supply-chain performance. In addition to confirming that supply-chain confidence may have a greater impact on inventory levels and operating costs than most expected, the paper identifies and analyzes the key factors that influence supply-chain confidence. Traditionally, businesses have concentrated on easily measurable and tangible elements of the supply-chain and have failed to recognize that lack of trust by its users and members can have damaging effects. The paper identifies two key elements that enhance supply-chain confidence. Total end-to-end visibility enables transparent supply-chain and allows the right information to be available to the members at the right time.
