ABSTRACT
The development of the Express Shuttle concept by logistics company, UPS was designed to improve long-distance and independent private rail service in continental Europe using rapid and compact trains. The rail service is expected to enable package delivery by rail as an alternative to road transportation. It offers a cost-effective, competitive and ecological alternative to road transportation. And it is predicted that the system would lead to the development of efficient rail transportation in Germany resulting to flexible scheduling and non-discrimination of rail users.
