ABSTRACT
The University of Huddersfield in England has issued a warning that the logistics industry is losing potential professionals and employees resulting to its poor image among young people, teachers and career advisers. The research conducted by the university highlighted the need for closer links between the profession and educational establishments and improved coordination of the initiatives to improve the image of the industry. It reported that students and graduates have little knowledge of the opportunities in the logistics industry in terms of job satisfaction, remuneration and career prospects. The researchers proposed the creation of a special interest group to study recruitment and the need for employers to forge closer links with schools and universities.
