The logistics specialists' workshops held by the Institute of Logistics and Transport and hosted by the Department of the Environment Transport and the Regions in Great Britain highlighted the development of a research project on transport and logistics policies. The institute and the department agreed to conduct research focusing on the best practice in the field and produce recommendations. In relation to the research and workshop, Glenn Lyons, a member of the workshop panel from Southampton University has given a paper on the panel's role and work to the European Transport Forum held in September.
