ABSTRACT
We report on the magneto-optical properties of hexagonally arranged Ni nanowires embedded in anodic alumina templates. Due to the nanowire geometry, these samples show different response depending on the polarization orientation of the incident light, which leads to a high anisotropy of both their optical and magneto-optical properties. A strong increase of the magneto-optical activity is clearly observed with respect to the Ni bulk material. We associate this behavior to plasmon resonance of the Ni nanowires. © 2003 American Institute of Physics.

Abstract. The effect of the Ni addition on the structure and magneto-optical (MO) properties is investigated with (CoPt[sub 3])[sub 1-x]Ni[sub x] alloy films. The result shows that, lower T[sub c] and higher H[sub c] could be simultaneously obtained in the Ni range of 0.43 - 0.7. (111> > texture...

The effect of second harmonic generation was experimentally investigated in ZnSe nanowires grown by the vapor-liquid-solid method. The effect dramatically depended on the angle between the nanowire axis and the linear polarization of the excitation light. The magnitude of the effect was 20 times...
