ABSTRACT
Apart from staff professionalism, pedagogical and digital media competence, personal leadership qualities are needed in order to realise a functioning co-operation between schools and school libraries. Only co-operative and strong management on both sides can guarantee a successful co-operation with the school's administration. It is important that school libraries do not get into the same situation as the open all-day schools in Germany. From international experiences, consequences should be drawn for the co-operation of teachers and librarians in Germany. The "Dortmunder Literaturpädagogik-Zertifikat" as a training certificate for teachers could be a first step in this direction.
