The article discusses the future of wireless technology. 4G means Long Term Evolution (LTE) or the OFDM technology that is the dominant framework of the cellular system today. While LTE promised download speeds up to 100 Mb/s, that has not been achieved in practice. Most carriers have not yet implemented LTE-Advanced, an enhancement that promises greater speeds. LTE-A uses carrier aggregation (CA) to boost speed.
