ABSTRACT
Safeway Inc., despite being at the center of merger plans, is pushing ahead with a major PeopleSoft Inc. rollout that will involve high volumes of training. The supermarket is in the process of training 1,000 store and 500 office staff on financial implementation software, which includes an internal administration procurement module. As a result, Safeway is using a mix of online and face-to-face training in association with PeopleSoft and IBM Consultancy. Safeway has also been testing out a stock-picking software solution in its warehouse, running Linux on a mainframe.
