ABSTRACT
Vegas+DVD 4.0 from software developer Sony Corp. has become a strong alternative to Adobe Premiere software from Adobe Systems Inc. Perhaps the best vote of confidence is that Sony has bought the program from Sonic Foundry to pave its path into the DV software scene. Vegas 4.0 provides integrated real time video and audio non-linear editing with mixing, composition and titling features as well as streaming media-creation and surround-sound production tools. Sonic Foundry's pedigree in this area is obvious, as the interface closely resembles that of its flagship audio editors, Sound Forge and Acid. The audio tools are as powerful as those found in Premiere Pro and superior to MediaStudio 7, with Dolby 5.1 mixing tools providing features normally found only in dedicated audio production applications. Vegas+ DVD also includes DVD Architect, a Dolby certified multi-channel AC-3 encoder.
