ABSTRACT
The article provides suggestions for parents to nurture compassion in their children in the age group of five to six years. This is the age when children are truly ready to grasp the meaning of compassion. When children can recognize self-acceptance in themselves they can be more compassionate for others who are struggling to learn something. A child who feels loved and accepted can be accepting and compassionate. Something as simple as helping the child learn to take a breath before reacting might be all that is needed to help him begin to move beyond an instinctive response to aware behavior.
