ABSTRACT
This article first discusses where the conception of the optional module 'Scientific services for teaching and research/Fachreferat' is aiming which is part of the curriculum of the Master's program 'Library and Information Science' (MALIS) of the TH Köln (Technische Hochschule Köln). After that, the optional module's contents are presented and it is shown how MALIS participants are prepared specifically for advising students and scientists within the context of common, but also of current subjects. Examples are digital publishing, virtual research environment and research data management.
