ABSTRACT
The article outlines the genre of song leaflets from the early modern age to the present and explains, with the help of various examples, the collection characteristics as well as the collection and indexing situation. Then the author presents contents and structure of the new central data bank 'VDLied' for digitised German song leaflets which has been developed in a DFG (German Research Foundation) project by the Berlin State Library and the Zentrum für Populäre Kultur und Musik (Freiburg im Breisgau, centre for popular culture and music). Since September 2015, 'VDLied' provides song leaflets from the time of the 16th to 21st century from Berlin, Freiburg and Vienna for media specific research. Data include the songs printed.
