The article provides information on the Canon Bubble Jet i560 printer and the CanoScan LiDE 80 scanner. Canon claims that its new Bubble Jet i560 printer is the fastest in its class. It delivers print speeds of 22 ppm mono and 15 ppm colour at true 4800 dpi resolution. Canon says that it is 25% faster than its predecessor and 20% to 30% faster than the competition. This is also Canon's first bubble jet printer to support PictBridge allowing direct photo printing from any compatible digital camera via a universal serial bus cable connection. An improvement in the bubble jet printer is its bi-directional print mechanism. the i560 uses individually replaceable ink tanks for all colours, ensuring only exhausted in tanks are replaced. Canon claims three world firsts with its new CanoScan LiDE 80 scanner - first film-capable Contact Image Sensor (CIS) scanner, first 2400 x 4800 CIS scanner, and first CIS scanner with FARE automatic film retouching technology. All this comes in a body measuring a mere 38 mm in depth. The scanner's slim figure is due partly to Canon's use of a small, low power LED light source and the integration of lens elements directly onto the scanning sensor to substantially reduce the number and size of individual components.
