This paper presents updates relating to the Institute of Management Services as of April 2003. The Council of Management meeting was held at Stowe House in Lichfield, England on January 31, 2003. In the absence of the chairman, Harry Downes, the deputy chairman John Lucey presided. Advertising income and Examination Entry Fees had both fallen drastically. It was predicted that Institute finances will move into deficit in 2006. John Hopkinson reported on his investigation into the possibility of disturbing the magazine to its members. Further investigation into the costs incurred by the Institute servicing overseas branches is to be carried out and reported back to the May meeting of Council. The next Council of Management meeting is scheduled to take place at Stowe House on May 16, 2003. Upgrading managerial skills and investing in innovation were two of the key priorities for Great Britain. Innovation provides and demands productivity. It provides productivity by challenging the status quo and delivering better solutions to consumer or business needs.
