Peter Drach (1450-1504) was the most important incunabulum printer in Speyer. He reprinted mostly popular Latin works whereas vernacular editions were not so important. The Palatinate state library in Speyer, being a member of the state library centre of Rhineland-Palatinate, owns a comparatively small incunabulum collection consisting of about 155 editions including fragments. Of these, 90 editions alone go back to incunabulum printers from Speyer. Taking the example of specimens printed by the printing-house Drach, this report shows from the Speyer perspective how incunabulum research benefits from the watermark information system.
