ABSTRACT
In the ULB Münster, the 'research competence case data bank' was developed as a cooperative instrument which is used by employees of the information desk to preserve their research competence. It also enables trainees, student trainees and new employees to familiarize themselves with research problems in a practical way. It works by collecting interesting problems from the oral and written information as well as difficult cases occurring in the interlibrary loan system and then adding one or more solutions to each question. The case data bank as a further training element, like the employees' own initiative and internal and external training units, is completely integrated into the information desk employees' everyday business.
