ABSTRACT
The study aimes to evaluate the bioactivity of two plant extracts (menthol (99%), camphor (100%) and their mixture) on egg masses, 2nd instar larvae and pupae of cotton leaf worm, Spodoptera littoralis. Also, LC50 of each treatment was established against 2nd instar larvae of S. littora/is under semi-field conditions. The obtained results reveal that camphor was more effective than each of menthol alone and the mixture of them against eggs and 2nd instar larvae while the mixture was the most effective on pupae non emergence. LC50 was 3189.44, 5314.78 and 15318.03 ppm for camphor, mixture of ingredients, and menthol, respectively, for 2nd instar larvae. Also, the results indicated that theses active ingredients delayed the egg hatching periods and the pupal emergence than control. However, the treatment of larvae caused some denaturation of the dead ones and some of resulted adults from pupae treatments were denaturized.
