The article reports that according to the information technology research and advisory firm Gartner Inc., many businesses are not effectively using the customer data as corporate asset and also the monetary value is ignored. It mentions that there is a wealth of information these days which can be collected through social media, mobile devices and the Internet. It adds that monetization of customer data is presently in use by banks and credit card companies.
