ABSTRACT
The article explores the Neo-Black Parenting school of thought. Topics include a warning that overdisciplining without mentoring thwarts a child's ability to question and to allow the child to develop critical thinking skills as well as a key distinction of the Neo-Black Parenting is its recognition of the importance of balancing racial awareness with an authoritative parenting style. Also mentioned are four things proactive parents should focus on, such as modeling the right behavior.
