ABSTRACT
This article discusses the intrinsic relationship between race and history. The author comments on the concept of post-racialism as it relates to blacks and black identity. He also considers the history of social conditions of blacks in Cuba, also known as Afro-Cubans. The representation of these concepts in the work of Afro-Cuban artist Erik Olivera is also examined.
