ABSTRACT
This article presents a response to the op-ed written by Roberto Zurbano in the "New York Times" regarding race relations and the conditions of blacks in Cuba. The author comments on the reaction of the Cuban cultural journal "La Jiribilla" to Zurbano's article. The editorial changes made to Zurbano's article by the "New York Times" are also examined.
