ABSTRACT
Nearly six months after U.S. President George W. Bush declared the war in Iraq over, nothing is more apparent than that the war for the soul and mind of Iraq is anything but won. The lack of planning and knowledge that underlies the ongoing American occupation of Iraq has led to an abysmal quagmire for both Iraqis and their would be "liberators". The chaos that reigns in Iraq is good for a few, mainly American, businessmen seeking to create a foothold in Iraq before a whole new series of rules and regulations kick in, but beyond that nobody else wins. The increasing number of international soldiers from Spain, Ukraine, Thailand, Romania, Mongolia, Latvia, Slovenia, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, the Philippines and Nicaragua are testament to their governments' willingness to spare lives in order to gain political brownie points with Washington.
