The article focuses on the book "Through the Lens: National Geographies Greatest Photographs," compiled by the U.S.-based National Geographic Society, as of October 1, 2003. The collection offers glimpses of various kinds of moments that can only be captured when photographers are in the field for a long time. At 504 pages, it's the largest compilation of photos ever assembled by the Society. The book will be published in 20 languages and sells for $30. A complementary exhibit will run through November 2, 2003 at the Society's headquarters in Washington D.C.
