ABSTRACT
The article discusses the lack of sufficient attention and funding being devoted to the rising importance of software asset management (SAM). Topics include the findings of the Forrester survey of 200 information technology (IT) infrastructure and operations decision-makers in partnership with an independent provider of IT asset management news and good practices, concern over software compliance and the potential for supplier audits, and overcoming the challenges of SAM initiatives.
