Canadian broadcaster Craig Media Inc. has formed a strategic alliance for its new Toronto, Ontario television (TV) station with Toronto Star daily newspaper, the city's largest as of September 9, 2003. The alliance is notable because in 2002 Craig beat out Torstar, publisher of Toronto Star for rights to operate a new free, over-the-air TV station in Toronto, Canada's largest TV market. Despite that setback Torstar has agreed to partner with Craig as part of its convergence strategy for TV, print and the Internet.
