ABSTRACT
Paul Revere was born on December 21, 1734. He grew up in the north end of Boston, Massachusetts. Boston was one of the most important cities in the American colonies. Ships carrying goods from England often docked at Boston Harbor, and the city's streets were filled with merchants and craftspeople. Paul's elder brother made a living as a goldsmith and silversmith, and he taught these metalworking skills to young Paul also. As a silversmith, young Revere made silver cups, teapots, pitchers, rings, candlesticks, spoons, and a wide variety of other items. Revere also helped the American colonies gain freedom from the British.
