Chemicals and pharmaceutical company Bayer has discovered that blending staff development can achieve hard and fast results. Bayer is a subsidiary of one of the world's largest chemical and pharmaceutical firms, Bayer AG, and its business activities encompass crop science, polymers and chemicals as well as healthcare. Bayer's skills professionals also continually investigate the efficacy of the latest developments in learning theory. One notable fruit of this research is a blended learning programme that has been rolled out by Bayer Business Services. As the workforce is made up of a large proportion of home workers and mobile staff, Bayer wanted to make sure these employees weren't disadvantaged. It's not just staff who have been convinced of the benefits of blended learning, senior management has, too. Steve Beviere, head of service and support for Bayer diagnostics, is a keen supporter.
