The motion picture industry has moved from the "sequel" portion of the Summer boxoffice season to the "reworked" section as both of this past weekend's two new wide releases are from the latter persuasion. Sony's "S.W.A.T.," a reworking of a 1970s television show, was dispatched to the top of the boxoffice charts in North America, debuting with a sterling $37.1 million. Buena Vista's "Freaky Friday," a remake of a 1976 feature film, parked in the second spot on its opening frame, taking in $22.2 million. A solid 92% of moviegoers gave the film a positive grade.
