ABSTRACT
"La Meglio gioventu," a six-hour miniseries from Italian director Marco Tullio Giordana, received the top prize in Cannes' Un Certain Regard sidebar, one of a type of awards presented at the Cannes film festival in France during the weekend. The film, which screened over two nights in Cannes, is a portrait of an Italian family spanning four decades from the 1960s to the turn of the millennium. The runner-up Jury Prize in Un Certain Regard went to Iranian helmer Jafitr Panahi for his "Talaye Sorgh," the story of lowly pizza delivery man Hussein, played by Hossain Emadeddin, who longs for the life of luxury he sees represented in the windows of a Tehran jewelry shop.
