ABSTRACT
An exhibition celebrating the influences of the ancient Egyptians on the modern day perfume industry is attracting international visitors to the French Provençal town of Grasse. The article reveals how knowledge amassed in Egypt 5,000 years ago remains alive in the 21st century fragrance industry. Perfumes have been in the lives of people for more than 5,000 years. Bridging the years is a fascinating exhibition titled Egypt, Perfumes in History, held at the International Perfumery Museum in the French Provençal town of Grasse. The exhibition links Egypt, the country acknowledged as the birthplace of the earliest perfumers, with the vibrant center of the contemporary fragrance industry.
