ABSTRACT
The article presents an overview of opportunity for marketers toward the marketing needs of Hispanic consumers, according to Henry Cisneros, keynote speaker at the Marketing to Hispanics Symposium of the Advertising Age. Hispanic influence in the U.S. will grow not linearly, based on population, but exponentially, as a variety of elements interplay. The U.S. Hispanic population is expected to grow from $21 million to 30 million over the next decade. But because Hispanics are concentrated in key political states and large urban areas, their cultural influence and political and economic clout will grow even beyond the numbers, he said. Global events will also influence the U.S. Hispanic market, and immigration will continue to rise. As the U.S. strengthens its trade relationships with its neighbors, there's talk of establishing an American common market, similar to the European Common Market.
