ABSTRACT
This article focuses on the beverage portfolio of Cadbury Schweppes, a worldwide leader in soft drinks. In the niches of adult and flavored soft drinks, Cadbury Schweppes is building a portfolio of brands that could ultimately pose a threat to products ranging from root beer leader A&W to sparkling water giant Perrier. Cadbury Schweppes Beverages, the company's global beverage unit, markets Canada Dry, the nation's top-selling ginger ale; Schweppes, the leading tonic water; Canada Dry seltzers, which top the club soda/seltzer category; Sunkist orange soda, which had a precipitous sales decline in the mid-1980s but is making a comeback; Orange Crush, a second orange soda entry; other flavors of Crush; and Hires root beer.
