ABSTRACT
The article reports on the United States House of Representatives' approval for a food labeling bill that would supersede state laws on health claims and nutrition and ingredient labeling. The bill requires the food industry to post uniform nutrition labels on all food products and gives the federal government exclusive power to regulate health claims. Under the bill, food marketers would have to reliable supermarket products within two years of enactment. It also gives the Food and Drug Administration the power to regulate health messages and disease prevention claims.
