ABSTRACT
The article reports on the decline in sales of the United States-based retailer Sears Roebuck & Co. in 1990. Market analysts predict that in 1990, the company will fall behind KMart Corp. into second place and eventually drop to third behind Wal-Mart Stores. KMart will position on top of the rankings but this may be short-lived followed by Sears and then Wal-Mart. The earnings forecast may influence Sears to redesign its business strategies and maintain the top spot in the retailer sector.
