Indianapolis Monthly;Aug2003, Vol. 26 Issue 14, p63
This month, Indianapolis, Indiana, plays host to one of the biggest smooth-jazz groups in a concert dubbed the Mini Smooth Jazz Festival. The Rippingtons, who've been at the forefront of the trend since the late 1980s, headline the event. Band founder and guitarist/keyboardist Russ Freeman brought the group into the spotlight 17 years ago with a debut album, 'Moonlighting,' that featured an all-star cast of musicians including Kenny G, Brandon Fields, Gregg Karukas and David Benoit.
